Courses

Paul offers unique courses in Made to Measure Handmade Shoemaking; ideal for beginner and experienced students.
Courses are run from his Studio in Bethnal Green, London.

The course covers Last Alteration, Pattern Cutting, Clicking and Closing (preparation and construction of shoe upper), Lasting (moulding and construction of shoes), and Heel design specification and production. Additional costs for heel production £85 - £100 approx.

Students are allowed freedom of design; this course does not operate on set styles to make or generic teaching. Classes are kept to a maximum of six students, allowing plenty of one to one tuition in a relaxed and informal environment. Students progress at their own speed.

It takes 80 hours to complete one pair of shoes. With a selection of times and days to attend, allowing some flexibility of attendance, classes are bookable in blocks of four sessions. Outcome of the course is to produce a pair of self designed made to measure footwear, from 2D idea through 3D mock-up to finished 3D product, learning and applying procedures and techniques of handmade shoemaking.

All materials will be provided including leather lining and leather soles but students will be expected to purchase their own upper materials/fabrics this will be discussed during the first class.

A large collection of ladies and gents lasts in all sizes are available for use

Courses operate all year round, e-mail for current dates of classes.
